The MIBA attended the AUSA Conference in Washington, DC this month. AUSA is one of the largest defense conferences in the US and Israeli defense companies typically have a strong presence there. Scott Hiipakka, Bernard Bourgeois, and Dan Ryan spent three days at the conference connecting with Israeli companies and creating connections between them and Michigan companies and stakeholders.
MIBA recently held an educational program entitled “Israel Since October 7 & Beyond,” featuring distinguished speakers Mark Davidoff (MIBA’s Founding Board Chair) and Mark Regev (former Ambassador of Israel).
On October 7, the MIBA team had the honor of welcoming two leaders from the Consul General of Israel to the Midwest: Itai Biran, Consul for Political and Commercial Affairs, and Ethan Ramer, Senior Officer for Public Affairs.
In the spirit of Israeli innovation, many are asking, in light of this tragedy and the enormous sacrifice of so many Israelis, what can be done in their memory to contribute to the country’s resilience?

The MIBA capped off a busy month by attending the SelectUSA Investment Summit in Washington DC. Hosted by the U.S. Department of Commerce, the Investment Summit is a one-stop shop for companies considering expanding to the United States. More than 40 Israeli companies attended this year’s conference across a variety of industries. Bernard was able to connect with many of these companies and talk about the benefits of selecting Michigan and how the MIBA can support their efforts.
