Detroit & Central Galilee: New Mayors, New Momentum for Innovation

Written by Liza Yedwab, MIBA Manager of Business Development, Israel

The MIBA team was honored to take part in a meaningful visit from the newly elected mayors of Jezreel Valley and Migdal HaEmek, accompanied by the Steering Committee overseeing their vital partnership. This visit, hosted by the Jewish Federation of Detroit (JFD), marked the first time mayors from JFD’s Central Galilee partner cities visited Detroit.

These municipalities are key members of the Detroit-Central Galilee Partnership2Gether (P2G), a flagship program of the Jewish Agency for Israel that fosters enduring connections between Jewish communities around the world and Israeli regions through collaborative projects and people-to-people engagement.

During their stay, the mayors met with MIBA CEO Mark Davidoff and Director of Operations Krista Siefert to explore emerging opportunities for collaboration. Mark and Krista shared MIBA’s vision, mission, and future ambitions centered on accelerating innovation, building strong business bridges, and deepening the Michigan-Israel economic connection.

With several new innovation centers underway in Central Galilee, discussions surfaced with tremendous potential for joint efforts in technology, entrepreneurship, and regional development.

This visit marks an exciting step forward; strengthening relationships, aligning priorities, and laying the groundwork for impactful new initiatives.

The MIBA team is excited by the journey ahead.
