Michigan Innovation Alliance Begins Statewide Work

The Michigan Innovation Alliance has officially launched and begun its work to strengthen Michigan’s innovation economy.
The Alliance is a first-of-its-kind statewide effort to bring together the full range of partners across Michigan’s innovation ecosystem, including investors, universities, corporations, founders, startup companies, and ecosystem organizations. Its purpose is to better align strategy, improve access to capital, and help more companies start, grow, and stay in Michigan.
Importantly, this is not a top-down mandate. It is a grassroots coalition of more than 100 organizations working together to align Michigan’s strengths and advance shared goals for the state’s innovation economy.
In year one, the Alliance is focused on building the foundation for a more coordinated statewide innovation strategy. That includes policy advocacy, capital access, commercialization support, shared ecosystem messaging, and public-facing tools to track and communicate Michigan’s progress.
This work matters because Michigan does not lack innovation assets. We have world-class research universities, deep industrial strengths, talented founders, major corporations, strong regional ecosystems, and companies solving real problems across mobility, energy, health, defense, advanced manufacturing, and more. The opportunity is to connect those assets more intentionally and speak with one stronger statewide voice.
