Michigan Showcases Global Opportunities at IEDC in Detroit

Written by Bernard Bourgeois, Managing Director – Business Development

Michigan Israel Business Accelerator (MIBA) was proud to present at the International Economic Development Council (IEDC)’s Annual Conference this year. Casey Iaccino and I teamed up to present a featured session: Bridging Two Innovation Capitals: How Michigan is Building a Cross-Border Growth Engine. The discussion highlighted Michigan’s work with Israel as a model for building international economic development strategies that focus on a single region.

The conference brought together leaders from around the world to share strategies shaping the future of economic growth. The gathering was especially meaningful with IEDC choosing Detroit as the host city, underscoring the region’s role in global innovation. The conference was made possible in part by the generous support of the William Davidson Foundation, a long-standing champion of Michigan’s economic vitality and international connections.

Through real-world results and case studies, we shared best practices on how to create intentional, mutually beneficial partnerships that drive investment, innovation, and growth. Attendees walked away with a practical roadmap for developing their own international engagement plans, inspired by Michigan’s proven success in connecting two of the world’s most dynamic innovation economies.
